Told He'd Never Fight.
Became a Champion Anyway.
At sixteen, the diagnosis was devastating: a broken L5 vertebra, slippage of the spine (spondylolisthesis), and scoliosis. The doctors told him he'd never play contact sports and that he'd live in pain for the rest of his life. He became the first UFC middleweight champion anyway.
Thirty years, no surgery
Frank has NEVER had spine surgery. Instead, over thirty years, he fixed his own back himself — through fascia release, foam rolling, and one tool you can buy anywhere: balls. Tennis balls. Racket balls. Lacrosse balls. In Frank's own words: "Try the balls — find ur size and go."
The method
Pain is the signal. The balls and the foam roller are the instruments. Frank's philosophy is simple: "Pain is your body telling you that you are alive — and to do something different." And when something stops working, he doesn't argue with it — "Everything works, nothing works for long."
